What do we do?

Field Trials

Field Trials are competitive events designed to showcase the breed's natural hunting abilities, including pointing, stamina, and obedience in the field. These trials simulate real hunting scenarios and allow dogs to demonstrate their skill in locating and pointing upland game birds. Handlers work closely with their dogs across marked courses, and judging is based on style, performance, and teamwork.

Field Trials are a vital part of preserving the Weimaraner’s heritage as a versatile hunting dog. Whether you're an experienced competitor or new to the sport, attending a Field Trial is a great way to engage with the breed’s working instincts and the broader Weimaraner community.

Hunt Tests

Hunt Tests are non-competitive events that evaluate a dog’s ability to perform fundamental hunting tasks based on a set standard. Unlike Field Trials, Hunt Tests are judged against a defined level of performance rather than against other dogs. They are open to dogs at various stages of training, with titles available at Junior, Senior, and Master levels.

In these tests, Weimaraners demonstrate their natural hunting instincts—searching, pointing, backing, and retrieving—while showcasing their trainability and cooperation with handlers. Hunt Tests are a great entry point for newcomers to the sport and offer a fun, structured environment to develop your dog’s field skills.

Whether you're looking to title your dog or simply enjoy a day in the field, Hunt Tests are a rewarding way to celebrate the Weimaraner’s hunting heritage.

Agility

Agility Trials are fast-paced, exciting events where Weimaraners navigate a timed obstacle course that includes jumps, tunnels, weave poles, and more. These trials test a dog’s speed, coordination, and communication with their handler, emphasizing precision and teamwork.

Weimaraners excel in agility thanks to their athleticism, intelligence, and eagerness to please. Whether you're aiming for titles or simply having fun, agility is a fantastic way to bond with your dog while keeping them physically and mentally engaged.

Agility Trials are open to dogs of all experience levels, and spectators are always welcome to come and cheer on these amazing athletes.

We Have Fun

In addition to our formal events and competitions, the Southern MIWeimaraner Club enjoys a variety of social gatherings throughout the year. From casual picnics and holiday get-togethers to meetups at local parks, these events provide a great opportunity for members to relax, share stories, and build lasting friendships—both human and canine. Whether you're a long-time member or just getting involved, our social events are a welcoming space to connect with fellow Weimaraner enthusiasts.

We also take pride in maintaining our training grounds and event sites through organized workdays. These volunteer efforts not only help keep our spaces clean and functional but also reinforce our club’s sense of community and shared responsibility. Whether you're helping clear brush, set up for a trial, or just lending a hand, your involvement helps sustain the club and its mission.
